Assessment: Plants
(Recap):  For this term, our topic for inquiry are plants.
It also happens to be the topic for my writing assessment test... Enjoy:

What do you know about plants?
I know there are 391,000 plant species in total,
and firmly believe that each and every one of them
serves a special purpose to this earth. My question is,
“What kind of purposes?”  or,
“What causes them to be unique?”
Well, plants can be a small thing,
but play a vital role on the planet.
The most basic fact about plants I know,
is although humans inhale oxygen,
and exhale CO2 (carbon dioxide), for plants, it’s the inverse.

Parts of a plant.
All plants have male and female parts, in this case,
the stamens are known for the male parts of a plant.
The ovule, stomata, stigma and pistil are well known
for being the female parts.
The stem is the long thin tube connected to the flower of a plant,
or the base of the leaves. Roots also play a crucial character in a plant,
as it holds it down, making sure it doesn’t fly around.

Looking at a plant, have you ever wondered what goes on inside?
Things such as seed reproduction, pollination,
or photosynthesis all take place inside a plant, regardless of the size.
However, from the outside of a plant,
looks very different compared to the inside,
like it’s colour or figure.
I find intresting that a plant is only  green due to the chloroplast,
also known as food producers which are only found in plants.
Chloroplast is located in the leaf; where photosynthesis takes place.

Plants are very unique in different ways, how?
For one reason, is the fact that they are able to make their own food,
in the process of photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is the act of plants producing food for  their need.
It is a chemical reaction managed in the leaves of a plant.
In order for photosynthesis to function, it needs carbon dioxide,
water and sunlight for it to take place.

Seed dispersal is a system which is operated to transport
seeds from place to place.
Like photosynthesis,  seed dispersal also uses water
as one of it’s advantages.
The four main methods are through the flow of the river, grip of the wind,
by animal or insect, and by explosion; fire.
These strategies may take time however, it does the job.

What is pollination, pollination is the act of moving the pollen grains,
from the stamen to the female stigma.
The goal of every living organism, including plants,
is to create offspring for the next generation.
One of the ways that plants can produce offspring is by making seeds.

In Conclusion, I think plants are unique and special to the world,
due to their usefull features us humans need.
Whenever you see a plant, big or small,
have in mind the great things they do for us,
including the gift of oxygen.
I strongly believe that each human on this earth,
should contribute in caring for our plants, just like they benefit us.
